Welcome to the NJWELL Program!
The State Health Benefits Program (SHBP) welcomes you to join NJWELL - a program designed to help actively employed members of the SHBP live a healthy lifestyle. When you are healthier, everyone wins. You’ll feel better, you’ll have more energy for your family and your job, and you’ll typically require less costly health care. Here’s what you need to know about NJWELL:  

  • Program timeframe – November 1 – October 31 annually
  • Active employees and their covered spouse/partner can participate:
    • NJWELL is available to active employees in the SHBP/SEHBP who are enrolled in an Aetna plan. Eligible spouses/partners can also participate as long as he/she is covered by the plan. Dependent children are not eligible for points and incentives.
  • Eligible participants earn points:
    • When you participate in a NJWELL activity.
  • Points translate to rewards:
    • For this coming year, eligible participants can earn up to a $250 in VISA pre-pay card rewards. The eligible covered spouse/partner can earn his or her own pre-paid card too!
    • Eligible participants who reach 400 points will receive a $125 pre-pay card 8-10 weeks after information has been reported to ActiveHealth Management. If additional points and financial incentives are earned in the program year, all other pre-pay cards will be sent at the end of the program period.

Know Your Numbers – and Receive a Financial Incentive!
The NJWELL program can help you learn, track and improve your numbers so you can get or keep your health on track. It’s easy to follow and comes free with your health plan. And, there is a special incentive just for knowing your numbers.

How to learn your numbers – How to begin with the NJWELL Program!
To get started, you must complete the following first two steps. These will help you learn more about your general health. Once you’ve completed these two steps, you’ll become eligible to earn more incentive points.

  • Complete a Biometric Screening – Health screenings help you to learn your biometric numbers. You and your covered spouse/partner can each earn points by participating in a biometric screening, which identifies health risks. You can get a screening from your doctor at an annual physical.* You can also sign-up now for your Biometric Screenings through Quest Diagnostics! To register online and schedule an appointment you can visit My.QuestForHealth.com and use NJWELL as your registration key.** There is no fasting required and take any regularly scheduled medications as usual. It is that simple — you then will see your 100 points arrive in the MyActiveHealth Portal within 7 days of successfully completing your screening.
  • Complete a health assessment (via the ActiveHealth portal) – It will only take about 15 minutes to enter your information and answer questions about your health. When you’re done, you’ll get back a health report that shows a snapshot of your risks. Your health summary will list your current numbers alongside of what they should be. Over time, it will also show your progress. You’ll also see a list of risk factors— and action plans to address them, as needed. Click here to get started now!

More Ways to Earn Points – and Be Healthy!
There are five more ways for you and your spouse/partner to earn incentive points this year!  

  1. Get your age/gender appropriate screenings and log your visits into the ActiveHealth Portal
  2. Get your flu shot and log your visit into the ActiveHealth Portal
  3. Participate in online coaching through the ActiveHealth Portal
  4. Track your physical activity and log it into the ActiveHealth Portal
  5. Participate in telephonic Wellness and Disease Management coaching by calling ActiveHealth Management at 1-855-231-1219.
  6. Show a 5% improvement from your previous year’s biometric scores for one or more of the following - body mass index, blood pressure, glucose and total cholesterol.

You (and your eligible dependents) will have access to our health and wellness website. The website is powerful, because it is powered by your unique health information. Noted below are just a few highlights: 

  • All of your health information is available in one convenient place – your medical history, conditions, allergies, claims data, medications and doctors.
  • We will automatically track your incentive points on our website, where you can view progress and manage your incentives.
  • You will receive suggested “health actions” that are based on your health and your goals, so you know they’re realistic and right for you.
  • Tools and trackers are available for things like physical activity and nutrition, to help keep you motivated.
  • And if you’re looking for other health information, you’ll find tips for healthy eating, recipes, a useful symptom checker, and all the latest health news.

*By visiting a physician to have your screening completed, you may be responsible for your member cost share for a physician office visit.

Aetna and MinuteClinic, the walk-in medical clinic inside select CVS/pharmacy locations, have come together to bring wellness coaching to you – right in your own neighborhood.
